Since 2011 the company has had an office in Dublin, which, according to Mr Ryan, is where the vast majority of marketing budgets are allocated in Ireland. More recently AdSmart has based a staff member in the North with a view to growing the business there.
North Tipperary Enterprise Board, which supported the venture at the early stages, has now recognised AdSmart's achievements by naming it North Tipperary County Enterprise of the Year for 2012 and putting it forward as a finalist in the National Enterprise Awards which are being held next month.
Set up by entrepreneur Tom Ryan in 2009 after the recession had already taken hold, AdSmart set out to target large indigenous retail stores which don't have in house marketing departments. Because of the slump in spending, building up a customer base proved both challenging and difficult.

Four years on, approximately 50% of turnover comes from customers in the retail sector such as Arro, Euronics, Supermac's, and Xtravision, while another 20% of sales comes from selling to multinationals such as Proctor Gamble, and Pfizer. He adds that his company is well placed to meet these requirements and that there are few competitors in this space which provide the same extensive range of services.

Mr Ryan's strategy in developing the business has been to offer a comprehensive range of services, including marketing consultancy, web development, graphic design, and print management.
